A leaky heart valve demoralized my efforts to run better so I moved on.
Many of the images in this post are marred by the cover getting in the way of the camera on the new tablet I bought for the trip. I'm sorry they aren't better.
It was quite the trip, thanks. How can too much garlic talk be a bad thing?
I speak here about prairie hard neck garlic. I believe this stock I have came from the Morden Manitoba research station many years ago. Where ever it came from, it is superbly adapted to this area. This is Morpheus. When I last saw him he was but a pencil. He was from a hatch of corn snakes (anerythristic) that I hatched in 2008. At 1.65 meters, he's grown well. The images are from Ted View of Saskatoon who is the owner of this beauty. It was very good of Ted to keep me in the loop on this guys progress. Thanks Ted.

To say it was a pleasant evening to be outside setting up and shooting a small town prairie fireworks show would be to fall woefully short of the mark.
It was a long drive from home and took us about four hours to drive out to this little park that lies between Minto and Elgin Manitoba. I hadn't really noticed, but the numbers got my attention. Last year I planted 2.5kg of seed and saw a 460% return on that investment. This year I planted that same quantity and reaped a 776% return. The bulbs were not as spectacularly large like they were last year, but there sure was a lot of them. Here's to another hot dry summer next year. These clips give a small fraction of the experience. You get nothing of the concussion here of course, which is what is so addictive for me. I don't know that I've ever met a more wildly diverse crew than the folks that show up to work with pyrotechnics. The produce, encore, is more than just the eggs. The green onions are viscous, akin to when one cuts into an aloe vera plant. The contrast between what many people eat and these exotic choices is remarkable. The yolks are like paint and neither the eggs nor the onions closely resemble what I find in our grocery store. What luxuries these gifts are. Maybe an omelette tonight. It was an impressive sight on this short drive to cross the Red.Highway #201 East of Letellier. The double lines server as a more visible guide for the single lanes of traffic. Our toaster was not cooperating so I got into it to see if I could help. Four screws, some scraping away of past toastage and a single screw adjustment did the deed for resurrection. Twenty five years of service and I'm certain it's now ready to face another lengthy leg of action. Great value. I browned up the cheap roast ($3.98) quite hard. I packed it into the bottom of the slow cooker smelling like heaven after it was browned. Lightly cooked a couple chopped garlic cloves, the spices and a medium onion in the same pot I used to brown the meat, gathering up all that brown goodness. I like variety and winter is just one more cycle to find hidden treasures within. I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with the negativity regarding winter. It seems to be seamless. I pay them back in feed supplements for adding spectacular colour and vitality to the somewhat desert like conditions here as we cross the winter solstice. In my over thinking way, I have developed some ideas of which there may be no merit.
