Amazing marathon video

Kayoko Fukushi's debut - an amazing video of what happens when the marathon goes wrong.

Getting it this far wrong is my worst nightmare. I've seen people do this. I do not want to follow. As inspriational as it may be, I'm not interested in following anyone down a path to that much pain. Just so we're clear. :D

running temperature

It's -28C and the wind chill brings the sensation down to a bone chilling -42C and I'm out there running intervals. In the real world people must have treadmills for this type of thing.

The Kite Runner

I can't remember the last time I've been swallowed whole by a novel. Inside twelve hours The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini was finished. I'm a slow reader. I like to ponder word choices and savor the phrases that please me. It's been many years since I allowed myself to be taken over so fully. It was wonderful to travel like that again.

Yann Martel's The Facts Behind the Helsinki Roccamatios had a couple of outstanding offerings too. Reading, working, wood cutting, splitting and stacking, but no running. I'm supposed to be training for a half marathon. Yikes.

Spiegel Im Spiegel

After a lot of wood cutting this week, Tom Allen met me this morning over coffee with this hug. I will have to have this on hand for morning where the hurt is close to the bone. Beautiful.
